Man arrested after vehicle fails to stop for police

Police are appealing for information after a suspected stolen vehicle failed to stop for police.

Earlier this morning police attempted to stop a suspected stolen Luton style van in Salwarp Road in Droitwich after it had originally been seen on the M5 South.

The van, which had foreign number plates, had been reported stolen from the Coleshill area on Friday 16 May.

Police attempted to stop the van however it failed to stop and after a short pursuit drove at three police vehicles causing extensive damage to the vehicles.
Five police officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The van has been recovered and a 30 year old man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses, in particular any motorists who were in the area at the time with dashcam footage.

The incident took place at around 9am this morning.
DI Ed Slough said: “We believe the van was deliberately driven at police vehicles attempting to stop it and are keen to speak to any motorists who were in the area at the time of the incident and have dash cam footage.

“If anyone has information that could assist our enquiries we would urge them to get in contact.”
